A few photos of the door building for the Phila. project at the shop. The machines were humming all day. Made a huge pile of chips and saw dust......fun!
Here's a video of me routing the grooves in the doors. The project is rolling along. Next up is some door assembly and drilling out for the hinges. Should be starting the draws soon. Ismael delivered and installed the concrete countertops we made.

Just in time for Halloween....Ismael made a working guillotine. Luckily for Kyle, it is made with plywood. The fake blade has been nailed in place to prevent injury. Next up....a coffin.

Here are some photos of us delivering most of the base cabinets to the house in Philly. Ismael and Kenny will be working on the last few coats of mud and then we can paint, start the floor, and start installing the cabinets. Top cabinets are on deck, along with building all the doors, draws, and draw fronts. We will also be traveling out to Jenn and Matthews to start working on the guest wing of their house. I love retirement!!

Just a quick cabinet update. The standard base cabinets for the Phil. project are assembled. We have to make a faceframe for the farm sink cabinet, and the ginormus pantry we built. Then we move onto the top cabinets and the fridge enclosure. I'll be starting on the doors and draws soon. Video to follow then. Enjoy the photo's.

Cabinet grade stock on site for the Philadelphia kitchen project.

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

The demolition phase of the Philadelphia Kitchen Project is almost done. We spent the day designing the kitchen and working on the basic layout. Tomorrow Ismael and I will pick up some of the 30 or so sheets of cabinet grade plywood and maple ( for the face frames ) we need to start assembling the boxes. Lots of work to do yet, so stay tuned for the next episode. I'll add video when we start building doors and draw fronts. Thanks....Ismael and Dennis.

Some new toys just arrived at the shop to make the kitchen projects we're starting way easier. A Kreg pocket hole system, an Eagle model 3000 coping sled, and a huge pocket screw assortment. We also reconfigured the shop to handle cabinetry.

How to design and build a high tech. chicken coop.

Nothing like fresh eggs.....so, we designed and built a chicken coop for the P.A. house. We attached it to the small ex-tool shed, and converted the inside to be home for 3 chickens. Lots of beer and laughs helped get this done on a hot day. The ladies are let out in the morning, and cooped at night. They average 1 or 2 eggs each daily. They are very happy!
